Taxonomy
Otradnocetus virodovi was named by Mchedlidze (1984). Its type specimen is CO. I-90, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Otradnaja, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
It was corrected as Otradnocetus viridovi by Goldin and Startsev (2014).
