Taxonomy
Sinanodelphis izumidaensis was named by Makiyama (1936) [no specimen number is listed in the original publication for the type specimen]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Izumeda, which is in a Langhian marine shale in the Bessho Formation of Japan.
