Taxonomy
Argyrocetus patagonicus was named by Lydekker (1894). Its type specimen is MLP undesignated, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bryn Gwyn, which is in a Burdigalian marine siltstone/sandstone in the Gaiman Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Argyrocetus.
