Mesocetus siphunculus

Taxonomy
Mesocetus siphunculus was named by Cope (1895) [no type specimen listed in Cope 1895 ]. Its type specimen is AMNH 22665, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pamunkey River, near Hanover, which is in a Burdigalian estuary/bay marl in the Calvert Formation of Virginia.

It was recombined as Isocetus siphunculus by Kellogg (1968), Whitmore (1984).
