Karydomys wigharti

Taxonomy
Karydomys wigharti was named by Mörs and Kalthoff (2004). It is not extant. Its type specimen is IPB-HaH 5297, a tooth (M1 sup. sin.). Its type locality is Hambach mine horizon 6C, which is in a MN 5 paralic lignite/claystone in the Ville Formation of Germany.

Kalthoff 2004Very large democricetodontine; molars with simple tooth pattern; inflated cusps; thick molar enamel; M1 with broad, box-shaped and slightly split anterocone, with usually long mesoloph; M2 with short anterolophule and narrow first synclines, with strong tendency to establish posterior metalophule and small posterosinus; M3 reduced with weak lingual anteroloph, small sinus and weak hypocone; m1 with extremely short anteroconid, with very weak or absent labial posterolophid.
