Pachytesta berryvillensis was named by Taylor and Eggert (1969) [Type specimen probably now at U. Kansas; Type locality is Berryville, Lawrence Co., Ilinois. Calhoun Coal (Virgillian - I think)]. Its type specimen is CB 3687 A(5) Paleobotanical Collections, Dept. of Biological Sciences, UI-Chicag.
