Notiocetus romerianus was named by Ameghino (1891) [Based on an auditory bulla. No type specimen number listed by Ameghino (1891).]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bahia Blanca, which is in a Calabrian marine horizon in the Pampeana Formation of Argentina.
