Protosiren smithae
Taxonomy
Protosiren smithae was named by Domning and Gingerich (1994). Its type specimen is CGM 42292, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wadi Hitan ZV-54, which is in a Priabonian marginal marine shale/sandstone in the Gehannam Formation of Egypt.
