Protosiren minima
Taxonomy
Hippopotamus minimus was named by Desmarest (1822) [syntypes consist of three molars (see Sickenberg, 1934, fig. 36)]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Blaye, which is in a Lutetian/Bartonian marine horizon in France.
It was recombined as Hippopotamus (Tetraprotodon) minimus by Falconer and Cautley (1836); it was synonymized subjectively with Protosiren dubia by Sickenberg (1934); it was recombined as Protosiren minima by Hooijer (1952), Domning (1996).
