Taxonomy
Choneziphius liops was named by Leidy (1876). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pacific Guano Company, which is in a Zanclean marine marl in the Goose Creek Formation of South Carolina.
It was synonymized subjectively with Choneziphius planirostris by Abel (1905).
