Gargantuavis philoinos
Taxonomy
Gargantuavis philoinos was named by Buffetaut and Le Loeuff (1998). Its type specimen is MDE C3-525, a set of postcrania (synsacrum with parts of the pelvis), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bellevue, locality C3 (C III), which is in a Maastrichtian fluvial marl/conglomerate in the Marnes Rouges Inférieures Formation of France.
