Abelichnus astigarrae
Taxonomy
Abelichnus astigarrae was named by Calvo (1991). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MUCPv 74 (plastotype), a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Peninsula Nueva tracksite (level 2), which is in a Cenomanian delta plain sandstone in the Candeleros Formation of Argentina.

J. O. Calvo 2007 | Giant biped and tridactyl theropod tracks. Tracks have large and wide digit impressions. Digit III more developed than digits II and IV. Claw impressions are very prominent. Claw on digit III displaced inwardly. Digit IV larger than digit II, with claws displaced outward. The pace angulation is less than 150°. The heel is practically rounded, with a small surface (Calvo 1991). |
