Taxonomy
Megaraptor namunhuaiquii was named by Novas (1998). Its type specimen is MCF-PVPH 79, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Megaraptor type, Sierra del Portezuelo, which is in a Turonian/Coniacian terrestrial horizon in the Portezuelo Formation of Argentina.
