Taxonomy
Capitoconus artus was named by Skovsted (2004). Its type specimen is MGUH 26976, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GGU 314835 - Albert Heim Bjerge, which is in a Dyeran carbonate limestone in the Bastion Formation of Greenland.
