Taxonomy
Chuandongocoelurus primitivus was named by He (1984). Its type specimen is CCG 20010, a partial skeleton (femur), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dashanpu Dinosaur Quarry [lower], which is in a Bajocian/Oxfordian lacustrine sandstone/mudstone in the Shaximiao Formation of China.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Rauhut (2003) and Holtz et al. (2004); it was considered a nomen dubium by Li et al. (2011).
