Taxonomy
Brachytrachelopan mesai was named by Rauhut et al. (2005). Its type specimen is MPEF-PV 1716 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Cóndor NE sauropod site, which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial sandstone in the Cañadón Calcáreo Formation of Argentina.
