Asiaceratops was named by Nessov et al. (1989). It is the type genus of Asiaceratopsinae.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Sereno (2000); it was considered a nomen dubium by You and Dodson (2004).
It was assigned to Ceratopidae by Olshevsky and Ford (1994); to Asiaceratopsinae by Nessov (1995); to Protoceratopsidae by Kurzanov (1992), Ryan (1997); to Protoceratopidae by Tereshchenko and Alifanov (2003); to Leptoceratopsidae by Makovicky (2001), Xu et al.
