Enaliornis barretti

Taxonomy
Pelagornis barretti was named by Seeley (1866) [nomen nudum in 1869, validated in 1876 lectotype designated by Brodkorb 1963; see also Elzanowski and Galton 1991]. Its type specimen is BMNH A477, a limb element (distal end of a left tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coldham Common, which is in an Albian marine carbonate in the Gault Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Enaliornis, Pelagornis.

It was recombined as Enaliornis barretti by Seeley (1869), Seeley (1876), Zittel (1890), Van Den Broeck (1900), Brodkorb (1963), Brodkorb (1971), Elzanowski and Galton (1991), Padian (2004).
