Nanortyx inexpectatus
Taxonomy
Nanortyx inexpectatus was named by Weigel (1963). Its type specimen is SMNH 1417, a set of limb elements (distal end of a right tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Calf Creek bird locality, which is in a Chadronian fluvial sandstone in the Cypress Hills Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Nanortyx.
