Metriacanthosaurus parkeri
Taxonomy
Megalosaurus parkeri was named by Huene (1923). Its type specimen is OUM J.12144, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jordan's Cliff, Weymouth (OUM), which is in an Oxfordian marine claystone in the Oxford Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Metriacanthosaurus parkeri by Walker (1964), Steel (1970), Swinton (1970), Paul (1988), Martill (1988), Buffetaut et al. (1995), Buffetaut (1997), Holtz et al. (2004), Naish and Martill (2007), Benson and Barrett (2009), Carrano et al. (2012).
It was recombined as Metriacanthosaurus parkeri by Walker (1964), Steel (1970), Swinton (1970), Paul (1988), Martill (1988), Buffetaut et al. (1995), Buffetaut (1997), Holtz et al. (2004), Naish and Martill (2007), Benson and Barrett (2009), Carrano et al. (2012).
