Cyrtolites discus was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Oxydiscus discus by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Tropidodiscus discus by Knight et al. (1960); it was recombined as Zonidiscus discus by Spitz (1907), Cossmann (1908), Knight (1941), Wagner (2023).
