Taxonomy
Cetotherium furlongi was named by Kellogg (1925). Its type specimen is USNM 26521, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stone Canyon, which is in a Burdigalian deltaic sandstone/coal in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
