Hexinlusaurus was named by Barrett et al. (2005). It is not extant.
It was assigned to Ornithischia by Barrett et al. (2005); to Neornithischia by Butler et al. (2007), Butler et al. (2008), Butler and Sullivan (2009); to Hypsilophodontidae by Alifanov and Saveliev (2014); to Neornithischia by Han et al. (2012), Madzia et al. (2018), Herne et al. (2019); and to Genasauria by Dieudonné et al. (2020).
