Bharatisiren kachchhensis
Taxonomy
Metaxytherium kachchhensis was named by Bajpai et al. (1987) [LUVP/MP = Vertebrate Paleontology Collection, Geology Department, Lucknow University, Lucknow, India]. Its type specimen is LUVP/MP 1032 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aida, which is in an Aquitanian marine claystone in the Khari Nadi Formation of India.
It was corrected as Metaxytherium kachchhense by Domning (1996); it was recombined as Bharatisiren kachchhensis by Bajpai and Domning (1997).
