Marocella antiqua
Taxonomy
Scenella antiqua was named by Kiær (1916). Its type specimen is PMO 73172, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Holmia fauna, Tomten [Sparagmite Fm], which is in a Botomian deep subtidal shale/sandstone in the Ringstrand Formation of Norway.
It was recombined as Emeiconus antiqua by He and Yang (1982); it was recombined as Marocella antiqua by Geyer (1986); it was recombined as Purella antiqua by Qian and Bengtson (1989), Ponder et al. (2007), Kouchinsky et al. (2017); it was recombined as Helcionella antiqua by Høyberget et al. (2015), Wagner (2023).
