Conocaryomma was named by Lipman (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 685]. It is the type genus of Conocaryommidae.

It was assigned to Conocaryommidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
