Hormotoma piperi was named by Donald (1899) [Hormotoma (?) piperi Donald 1899]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Knapp Land, Ledbury, which is in a Ludfordian carbonate limestone in the Aymestry Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
