Taxonomy
Trochus lenticularis was named by de Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [Trochus lenticularis de Sowerby in Murchison 1839]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Pleurotomaria lenticularis by d'Orbigny (1850), M'Coy (1851) and de la Touche (1884); it was recombined as Raphistoma lenticularis by Morris (1854), Bigsby (1868), Whitfield (1882) and Etheridge (1888); it was recombined as Scalites lenticularis by Rohr et al. (2004); it was recombined as Liospira lenticularis by Longstaff (1924), Pitcher (1939) and Wagner (2023).
