Taxonomy
Liospira striatula was named by Longstaff (1924). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balclatchie Farm, Ayrshire, Girvan, which is in a Burrellian carbonate limestone in the Balclatchie Formation of the United Kingdom.

J. D. Longstaff 1924Shell discoidal, spire low. Whorls about six, slightly convex above, more convex below, periphery angular, overlapping the suture, bearing a thread at the margin which is in contact with another on the upper part of the succeeding whorl. Band having the greater part above the angle slightly grooved, and limited on the apical side by a thin thread. Lines of growth curving backwards very obliquely to the band, closely packed on the band, and formin,g a sharp point situated on the peripheral thread; crossed by exceedingly fine spiral lines. Base convex, but little produced. Umbilicus deep, of medium width, sometimes filled up by shelly matter, producing the appearance of a solid columella. Aperture obliquely oblong, angular at the upper outer margin, rounded below.
