Plethospira caledoniensis was named by Longstaff (1924) [Plethospira (?) caledoniensis Longstaff 1924]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Balclatchie Farm, Ayrshire, Girvan, which is in a Burrellian carbonate limestone in the Balclatchie Formation of the United Kingdom.
