Sinotubulites was named by Chen et al. (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: V N-Da Sepkoski's reference number: 702,1006]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Coleolidae by McMenamin (1985); to Problematica by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cloudinidae by Vinn et al. (2025).

McMenamin 1985Nearly cylindrical to weakly tapering calcareous tubular shells with irreg- ular annulating rings (ribs transverse to the growth axis), striae, bands, or annular depres- sions on the outer shell surface which may be oblique or normal to the shell growth axis. Wide variation in shape and spacing of an- nulae; annular ornamentation connected and/ or cut across by longitudinal ridges parallel or oblique to growth axis.
