Sinuites discoides was named by Reed (1921). It is not extant. Its type locality is Balclatchie Farm, Ayrshire, Girvan, which is in a Burrellian carbonate limestone in the Balclatchie Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Strangulites discoides by Horný (1962).
