Bellerophon dorbignii was named by Portlock (1843) [Bellerophon d’orbignii]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Euphemus orbignii by Etheridge (1889); it was recombined as Euphemus dorbignyi by Weir (1931); it was recombined as Euphemites dorbignii by Batten (1966).
