Jindongornipes was named by Lockley et al. (1992). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is the type genus of Jindongornipodidae.
It was assigned to Ignotornidae by Lockley et al. (1992); and to Jindongornipodidae by Lockley et al. (2006), Buckley et al. (2016).
