Taxonomy
Bellerophon expansus was named by de Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [Bellerophon expansus de Sowerby in Murchison 1839]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bucaniopsis expansus by Reed (1921); it was recombined as Bucanopsis expansus by Antia (1981); it was recombined as Phragmosphaera expansus by Peel (1977), Wagner (2023).
