Taxonomy
Bellerophon otsego was named by Hall (1859). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schoharie, Goniatite Limestone. Hall Locality, which is in a Givetian marine shale in the Moscow Formation of New York.

It was recombined as Retispira otsego by Wagner (2023).
