Taxonomy
Bellerophon recurvus was named by Ulrich and Scofield (1897). It is not extant. Its type locality is Mount Auburn, Cincinnati, which is in a Maysvillian carbonate limestone in the Grant Lake Formation of Ohio.
It was recombined as Sphenosphaera recurvus by Knight (1945), Wahlman (1992), Wagner (2023).
