Murchisonia (Coelocaulus) argolis was named by Perner (1907) [Murchisonia (Coelocaulus) Argolis]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Kosoř near Praha-Radotin, which is in a Gorstian marine horizon in the Kopanina Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Catazone argolis by Wagner (1999), Wagner (2023).
