Taxonomy
Cyrtolites orbiculus was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Oxydiscus orbiculus by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Tropidodiscus orbiculus by Ebbestad and Yochelson (2000); it was recombined as Temnodiscus orbiculus by Wagner (2023).
