Taxonomy
Delthyris expansus was named by Emmons (1842). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Clioderma expansa by Hall (1861); it was recombined as Pterotheca expansa by Lesley (1889), Raymond (1902), Weller (1903), Branson (1909), Foerste (1924), Shrock and Raasch (1937), Wilson (1951), Steele and Sinclair (1971), Wahlman (1992) and Wagner (2023).
