Euomphalus circinalis was named by Goldfuss (1844). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Goldfussoceras.
It was recombined as Buechelia circinalis by Kirchner (1915); it was recombined as Goldfussoceras circinalis by Blodgett and Frýda (1999) and Wagner (2023).
