Hypseloconus
Taxonomy
Hypseloconus was named by Berkey (1898) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Dres-l O Trem Sepkoski's reference number: 1,2,644]. It is not extant. Its type is Metoptoma recurva. It is the type genus of Hypseloconidae, Hypseloconellacea.
It was assigned to Hypseloconellacea by Peel (1991); to Hypseloconida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hypseloconidae by Knight and Yochelson (1960), Horný (1963), Runnegar and Jell (1976), Stinchcomb (1986), Ponder et al. (2020), Cope and Ebbestad (2024).
It was assigned to Hypseloconellacea by Peel (1991); to Hypseloconida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hypseloconidae by Knight and Yochelson (1960), Horný (1963), Runnegar and Jell (1976), Stinchcomb (1986), Ponder et al. (2020), Cope and Ebbestad (2024).
