Euphemus konincki was named by Weir (1931). Its type specimen is BI 4090, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Visé, which is in a Visean carbonate limestone in the Calcaire de Seilles Formation of Belgium.
It was recombined as Euphemites konincki by Batten (1966), Pan (1997), Wagner (2023).
