Taxonomy
Liospira abrupta was named by Ulrich and Scofield (1897). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Murfreesboro, which is in an Ashbyan shallow subtidal wackestone/packstone in the Murfreesboro Limestone Formation of Tennessee.

It was recombined as Paraliospira abrupta by Wagner (1999).
