Murchisonia spinosa was named by Phillips (1841). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Wuxuanella spinosa by Cook and Pan (2004); it was recombined as Cheeneetnukia spinosa by Blodgett and Cook (2002), Wagner (2023).
