Taxonomy
Emarginoconus was named by Yü (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-l Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1006,1030]. It is not extant. Its type is Emarginoconus mirus.

It was assigned to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002); to Helcionellidae by Parkhaev (2002); and to Helcionellinae by Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010).

P. Y. Parkhaev and Y. Demidenko 2010"Cap-shaped, low conical shell, very rapidly expanding from apex towards aperture. Apex hooked and displaced posteriorly, almost reaching posterior apertural margin. Aperture circular, with shallow sinus below apex. Shell ornamentation represented by distinct concentric growth lines."
