Emarginoconus was named by Yü (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-l Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1006,1030]. It is not extant. Its type is Emarginoconus mirus.
It was assigned to Helcionellidae by Parkhaev (2002); to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002); and to Helcionellinae by Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010).
