Planitrochus dominus was named by Perner (1903) [Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hinter Kopanina, which is in a Gorstian marine horizon in the Kopanina Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Prosolarium dominus by Perner (1907), Northrop (1939), Wagner (2023).
