Pleurotomaria bischoffii was named by Goldfuss (1844). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Platyloron bischofii by Heidelberger (2001); it was recombined as Platyloron bischofi by Heidelberger and Koch (2005); it was recombined as Platyloron bischoffii by Knight (1941) and Wagner (2023).
