Pleurotomaria sepulta was named by Perner (1903) [Pleurotomaria sepulta Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kozel, near Beroun, which is in a Gorstian carbonate limestone in the Kopanina Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Turbomaria sepulta by Perner (1907), Knight (1941), Wagner (2023).
