Pararaconus was named by Bengtson et al. (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 923].

It was assigned to Cyrtonellida by Bengtson (1992); to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002); and to Helcionellidae by Parkhaev (2001), Parkhaev (2002) and Wrona (2003).
